A worker in California has tragically passed away after he fell from a truck. The incident, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department, happened in North Hollywood. It took place on Tujunga Avenue, a spokesperson said, at around 3:25 p.m. on Friday, June 7.

The man who died was a city worker. He was riding on the truck and placing cones on the road when he apparently slipped and fell.

“Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and they performed CPR on the injured man, but they couldn’t revive him,” the spokesperson said.

The police are still investigating the incident. As of the latest reports, they were still working to notify the man’s family, so they did not release his name.

Overhead pictures from the scene show four police cars parked in a square around a white tent. In front of them and to the left is a yellow work truck, which is parked on the pavement. A number of workers in bright green high-visibility vests stand off on the other side of the street, on the sidewalk.

Incidents like this show you how even mundane, everyday tasks can be very dangerous at work. People who have done the same thing thousands of times in the past, without even a slight injury, could still pass away when something goes wrong unexpectedly. Life really is fragile, and workers always have to be aware of the risks.

At the same time, the families of those who die on the job need to know if they have a right to compensation for lost wages, funeral costs, medical bills and much more.
